Students work together on projects and ideas by upskilling and developing each other through support and challenge. This helps them learn to share ideas, compromise, and work towards a common goal. Students take ownership of their learning by contributing their own ideas, listening to the ideas of others, and working together to a final outcome. This can be a shared personal goal as well as an academic one.

What do we teach?
We focus on teaching our children two things: kindness and progress.
To build on the EYFS curriculum experience, Primary students will learn through topics and themes in specific timetabled subjects, including Reading, Writing, Maths, Science, STEAM and topic work. South View School students also experience a wider range of subjects taught by specialist teachers such as a PE, Swimming, Art, Music, Creative and Performing Arts, Computing, French, Spanish and of course Arabic Language and Islamic Studies.
We also have a strong focus on moral, social and cultural education throughout the curriculum.
How do we teach?
South View School teaches its students through a magnitude of strategies, approaches and philosophies. By teaching these skills, South View School helps students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to be successful in school and in life.
South View School students identify their own strengths and weaknesses through openness and transparency. By focusing on progress, students celebrate their development against their individual starting points, as well as celebrating the progress of their peers. Students take ownership of their learning by reflecting on their strengths and weaknesses, setting goals for themselves, and working to achieve those goals. Our students share this with parents at out Student Led Conferences and at our SVS Shares events.
We track student progress through a variety of methods, such as attainment judgements, test results, and exercise books. This helps a school to report outcomes, but it is much more important for students to take ownership over this. This information is used and shared to help students identify areas where they need to improve and to celebrate their successes. Students take ownership of their learning by tracking their own progress, identifying areas where they need to improve, and working to improve their skills.
South View School uses technology purposefully. We teach guide our students through our Digital Citizenship curriculum to teach them how to be responsible users of technology. We limit screen time and only use technology when it adds significant value to a learning opportunity.
We teach our students to ask questions, to evaluate evidence, and to make decisions. This is done through activities such as problem solving, debate, and research. Students take ownership of their learning by asking questions, evaluating evidence, and making decisions about their own learning.
Schools use assessment for learning to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, to track their progress, and to receive feedback on their work. This information is used to help students improve their learning. Students take ownership of their learning by using feedback from assessments to improve their work.
